I became a first-time mom at age 38 after years of wanting children but waiting for my life to catch up, and eventually having to go through IVF to get there. When I was pregnant, I was dreaming of our large condo back in San Francisco with a washer/dryer, outdoor space and private parking spot, but now I'm convinced that NYC is the best place to be as a new mom — if you know how to do it right. The Winter Babies 2017 group I started for moms due around the same time as me turned what could have been a very lonely and isolating time into one of the most fun and social times of my life. I'm still dreaming of that washer/dryer, but there's no other place I'd rather be right now — making the most of all NYC has to offer for moms and kids. And anyway, we're in NYC for the indefinite future while my husband tries to make it as an actor and comedian. Check out my personal blog marriedtoacomedian.com.
